  1. Hi guys,I´m Peter, form Canada. I have just came back from Havana, Cuba. Is the second time that I travel there and this time i had the experience of stay in "Casa de Leo". It was much better interact with really experienced persons about the area and the country. They have shown me really incredible places to visit . It´s a very clean house ,the owners are very kind and helpfull and they speak english and italian. The place is quiet , safe and comfortable.
Located close to La Habana vieja and Vedado and it's only 20 cuc per night with breakfast included. The experience was great!

    Riri and Italo from Milan.
We spent a wonderful week in Havana "pampered" by Leo and Everlys. We spent our first days in Havana in a 4 star hotel, but were ever so pleased to move to La Casa di Leo. Thus we had the chance to experience true hospitality, cleanliness and simpathy of the house and of our hosts. The house is only ten minutes' walking distance fron Plaza Central, so we could explore la Havana at our ease, coming and going also at late hours always on foot. L & E gave us plenty of useful advice on what to do and what to see. The food was just great! We will never forget the wonderful home made goiaba jam, nor the exquisite dinner we had at the house. All in all a great experience - to be repeated!

  3. I spent marvelous days in Havana thanks to Leo and Everlis. They were SOOOO NICE AND HELPFUL suggesting me places to go in the city, helping me with phone calls to arrange visits to the countryside. The food that Everlis cooked was simply DELICIOUS! the house is impeccably clean, and just right on downtown. Everlis speaks english which was a blessing since my spanish is very bad. I couldn't recommend more this house.

  4. I highly recommend this place. I was there when you posted this, and a few days ago while I was still there Leo mentioned that you posted this blog.

The stairs were a little bit of a workout but I actually liked it as I lost about 5 lbs considering all the food I ate (Everlis serves generous portions. I say he's the best cook out of all 3 casas I stayed at. Try the lobster, it's awesome! And because of the location, I hardly took a taxi unless I was going to Vedado or Jaimanitas so I did a lot of walking and enjoyed it. (10 minutes and your on Prado)

But they are very respectful of your privacy and I never had a problem with them being in my face. Plus the room is way at the end of the hall, far from where they are. They are new at running a Casa Particular so they are very attentive to making sure you have a pleasant stay, and that I did. They clean your room and the bathroom each day, know the best restaurants to eat at (although I think they would prefer it if you ate at their house and I tried a few restaurants on my own that made me wish I stayed in the casa) and they'll tell you everything you need to know, right down to the actual taxi fare from their house to Prado ($2cuc)

They're just about finished renovating the rooftop which was damaged by the hurricane. On the other side of the locked fence you can get a spectacular view facing north to the Malecon as well as the south.

There's also a second room but right now it doesn't have a/c, only in the room I stayed in. But they're working on getting a unit in.

Another thing that amazed me was how quiet it was in the room. It's at the back of the building so you don't get the street noise, and I would think the walls were 5 feet thick because you can barely hear doors opening or closing. Definitely the quietest casa I've ever stayed in.

So again, I highly recommend this Casa Leo and Everlis for the comfort, hospitality, friendliness, food and location.

    This is the BEST !!!!!
We have just returned from Cuba and cannot recommend this Casa enough. From the minute you enter the home to the minute you leave,Leo and Everlis treat you as a friend, and nothing is too much trouble.Leo is a fountain of knowledge regarding places to visit, things to do and where to eat ( you wont want to eat anywhere else after tasting Everlis`s cooking). The breakfast is unbelievable, and dinners are to die for,
You start the vacation as strangers and leave as friends.
We liked the place so much, after travelling we came back and spent the last couple of days with them.
A great start to visit Cuba and a fantastic end, all in all a great experience and hope to repeat it.
Leo y Everlis keep up the good work and you cant go wrong,
One day I hope we can return the hospitality !

  6. All I can say has been written before so I wont write it all again. But this place is like a 4 star hotel, very clean and comfortable. Leo even washed my clothes spectacularly well. He and Everlis are warm, genuine and very interesting people. The casa is very well situated aswell.
    Thankyou Leo and Everlis,
    Peter, UK

  7. Hey, I'm Susana from California. I just came back from Everlis and Leo's house and thanks to them my experience in Havana was better than I expected. The room is very nice and clean. Everlis' food is absolutely AMAZING! These people are soooo helpful and kind. They suggested me places to visit, helped me with phone calls and all sort of arrangements. They speak italian and english. They make you feel like at home and the apt is just in downtown. All the comments above do justice to Casa Leo.

  9. If you are going to Havana, you definitely have to come to CASA LEO & EVERLIS. These guys really know how to treat people as if they were your family in a polite, caring & highly educated way.
The place is incredibly clean, with a fresh environment. As someone said before, trying the lobster IS A MUST, don't leave without it.
I was amazingly impressed and delighted with breakfast which is by the way included.

Enjoy it, it's your best option....

We enjoyed our stay in Havanna july 2011.
Leo & Everlis are very good hosts.
We had a great time in their guestfree apartment. We loved the food, and they had many good advise for trips to make.
    We highly recommend this place!!

  11. I stayed here for two weeks in september and I highly recommend this casa. (I also stayed at another casa for a couple if days, but this one is by far the best).
As the comments above say: good food, clean, quiet and comfortable room, not to forget nice, friendly, helpful and service minded hosts.
The renovation of the rooftop terrace is not yet finished, but Leo hopes it will be by december.
    I'll be back :)

  13. Having just returned from Habana I can highly recommend this Casa. Particulares. Everlis will greet you with a warm friendly smile and make you feel at home. Casa is situated in centro Havana away from the tourists but not far from old Havana and Vedado. It is an easy 15 mins walk to Capitolio and the Malecon is near by. Slightly further to Vadado but there are bici taxis and share collective cadillacs that cruise up and down San Lorenzo nearby.Centro Havana is where everyday life is played out in the street you can see it from their balcony!

Dayame takes care of the cleaning and serves a delicious breakfast every day
Havana felt very safe and I had an incredible time! The twin room was spacious and quiet and as a single female traveller I would stay here again!

  14. Everlis was great. Helpful. The room had the best beds we stayed in during our time in Cuba. Nicely situated in the middle of the city. Would definitely return and stay at this same spot!

  15. If you’re going to spend some time in Havana, I can easily recommend Casa Leo. Leo and Everlis are fabulous hosts. They are friendly and will make every effort to accommodate your various arrival and departure times, and breakfast and dinner timings. Everlis is a talented chef¾the plates served at brekkie/dinner were plentiful, very tasty and well-presented. I was often unable to finish my meals! Both of the guys speak English and I enjoyed many conversations with them, often over coffee. They are located just a few blocks from the Malecon, a 20 min walk to the Capitolio area and a 6CUC taxi ride to the main Viazul station. Their apartment is in a quieter area with little or no street noise at night, and the rooms are clean, comfortable and nicely furnished. I was only in Havana four days and look forward to coming back to Casa Leo (& Everlis) next time.

  16. Hey everybody!
My partner and I are heading to Cuba to backpack across in late April. Just made arrangements to stay with Leo and Everlis, we are VERY excited for this trip. I have been across South America so I'm no stranger to hauling a backpack around in hot weather..hahaha. Anything you guys recommend we do/see/try that I may I not read about in a travel guide?
Also we are arriving late at night, I'm just curious about getting money changed late at night, will taxi's take Canadian money? This way we can just deal with changing it in the morning. Any advise for us is greatly welcomed, we have not been to Cuba before and we are so excited to explore what it has to offer.
    Cheers to happy travels.

    Hey ya'll!

Anybody going to Havana...? Don't have a place to stay? Call Everlis.
This guy is very attentive, funny, friendly and hospitable! Couldn't have asked for more. We stayed in Havana for three nights and had good conversation with Everlis and he informed us well about the city and the places to be. The food was good and the (fly-on-a-wall)view from the tiny balcony give you an eagle-eye of a lively day in the streets of Havana!

    Super thanks Everlis! :)

And to everyone staying here in the future.. have fun! You won't be sorry!

  20. We stayed at Casa Leo y Everlis twice on our travels around Cuba this year. Both times Everlis made us feel so at home at all times and was the best host anyone could ask for! From watching the olympics together, chatting away about life in Cuba and the UK, Everlis even sent emails home for us to say we were safe when we were elsewhere in Cuba. A little gem in Cuba and better than anyone could ask for in Havana.. We will definitely be returning to stay with Everlis in the future and anyone thinking of doing so.. Please do. Ask for the fried Malanga, best snack going. Thank you Everlis, until next time..

You cannot find a better B&B in La Habana considering your helpful host, very knowledgeable on so many topics, good cook, with a clean room and full breakfast. We spent three weeks with Everlis in May 2012 and can warmly recommend this place. The street looks goofy but is secure. In Cuba you shouldn't jugdge a neighborhood by the conditions of the buildings.

  22. We stayed at Casa Leo y Everlis twice on our travels around Cuba this January. Everlis really made us feel at home and was the best host anyone could ask for! Our room was clean and air-conditioned, breakfast was fresh and delicious, and Everlis helped us a lot with planning our onward travels/accommodation in Cuba. Everlis speaks fluent English and you'll get a really good insight into Cuban life when staying at his casa. If we ever come back to Cuba, we will definitely stay here again!

    Thanks Everlis!:)

  46. Dear Leo,

Myself and a friend, William, are travelling to Havana for the first time from the United Kingdom this summer and are looking for a place to stay at the beginning of our trip. Your house was recommended to us and we were wondering whether it was available for three or four nights from the 31st of July (31st July, 1st August, 2nd August, 3rd August). The house looks amazing, and in a brilliant location, so we would love to come and stay if you have not been fully booked.

Please do get in touch! If you are booked but you know some other houses that are available that would be so helpful too!
